Welcome to the Blue Door Guest Quarters

This one-of-a-kind, elegant rustic oasis gives the unusual opportunity to both rest-retreat, and be close to the center of Santa Fe’s cultural activities. Walking, you are only 10 minutes to the art galleries and cafes of Canyon Road, 15 minutes to St. John’s College and mountain trails, or 25 minutes to the Plaza. But here, you are far away.

Set on a hillside with prayer flags and peaceful views across Santa Fe to the Jemez Mountains, the Blue Door Guest Quarters is bathed inside and out by a magical light and the soothing sounds of a babbling brook. At night, away from city lights, sit under a star-studded sky or soak in the hot tub. The whole experience is one of quiet, privacy, being close to nature, and nourishing your soul.

The guest quarter’s open space divides into a cozy bedroom with sitting area, and modern kitchen, equipped with everything you need to make meals at home. A series of wooden frame windows open directly over the stream and its waterfalls. And there is a table both indoors and out, giving you the choice to lounge inside or on a shaded courtyard at water’s edge. En suite is a spacious bath with tub and shower.

Keeping to an atmosphere of rest and re-creation, this is a quiet environment immersed in the sound and smell of nature. There is No TV or Phone (your cell phone is welcome), and the entire site is Smoke-Free (interior and gardens).

Many come to simply vacation in a beautiful space. The guest quarters (though part of the Blue Door Retreat) are private and contained, with its own parking and off-street entrance. If you wish, you may arrange to participate in seminars and meditations at the Blue Door, as well as enjoy its library of spirituality, poetry, mythology and depth psychology, art and meditation room and the outdoor hot tub.

Others come to make a non-directed retreat. Or you may choose to tailor a retreat, personal work, training or consultation with the owner, Alexander Shaia, Ph.D. Ask for details.

Rates in US Dollars:
Mid-June to Mid-September: $155/night, $975/week, 5 night minimum; Mid-September to Mid-January: $145/night, $875/week, 3 night minimum; Mid-January to Mid-June: $125/night, $775/week, 3 night minimum. The nightly minimum may be waived - depending on availability - with a cleaning surcharge of $55. To rate, add New Mexico tax. Special rates apply for those tailoring a retreat or personal work with the owner.

Prayer Flags Payment is due in full prior to arrival by personal check or money order. To secure a reservation, send check or money order for at least one-half of your stay. The balance is due on arrival. Reservations may be cancelled up to 60 days before arrival, with a full refund, minus $50. For cancellations received within sixty days of arrival, monies will be refunded, minus $50, only if we are able to re-book the same days.
